Records of this council created in 1985 to ensure that Asians in Minnesota are more fully incorporated into the governmental and policy-making process; that they have better access to state government services; that the talents and resources of the Asian-Pacific community are used and promoted where appropriate; and to assist others in their contact with Asians. The records contain the minutes of the full council (1985-1999) and various of its committees/task forces (1985-1999), including those on long range planning, leadership development, refugees, and learning; public hearing files (1986); published records and related materials (1985-2000), mainly detailing the council's accomplishments and performance; and files documenting council sponsored events and meetings (1986-2002). The latter include agendas, correspondence, meeting notices, and participant lists, and cover such topics as relations with Asian Pacific community leaders and local, state, and national officials, cross-cultural orientation, education, legislation, reception of visiting Asian Pacific officials and guests, youth, trade, immigration law, and civil rights.
